Nathan Crouch here writing on behalf of the Troop 45 leadership team. We’re excited for the upcoming Camporee this weekend at Enid Lake and look forward to a great event with the Scouts. Below are the key details for the weekend.
*Drop Off Time & Location:*
– 5:30 pm Friday at the *VFW, 125 Veterans Drive Rd, Oxford, MS* – *Please note that dinner will not be provided on Friday evening, so we ask that your son eat before arriving at the campout.*
*Pick Up Time & Location:*
– 12:15 pm Sunday at *VFW, 125 Veterans Drive Rd, Oxford, MS* – *Please watch your email late Sunday morning for any updates. If there is an unforeseen delay, we would alert you via email.*
*Clothing for Trave:*
*– Please have your son dressed in Class A for the trip to Enid.*
*Camping location:*
– Enid Lake- Riverview Recreation Area – www.mvk.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Enid-Lake/
*Plan and details for the Weekend:*
– We will have ~25 Scouts and ~7 leaders attend the campout, traveling in a mix of the First Presbyterian Church bus and leader vehicles. – The 2 Assistant Scout Masters taking lead for this campout are: – Michael Upton- 662-645-0089 – Rob Devries-407-473-7672 – The plan is to tent camp on both Friday and Saturday evening. Troop 45 will supply the tents. (Hammocks are ok as well) – For this campout the activities will be based around those organized by the Camporee Event, including Fish Hatchery Tours, Flag Football, Whiffle Ball, Merit Badge opportunities, Fishing and general scout games and recreation. – The Scouts will be responsible for cooking all of their meals inside of 4 separate patrols. Those who had the quartermaster responsibility for this campout are aware and will be purchasing the food for their patrol.
*Items to bring:*
– Class A and Class B clothing. – See the Scout packing list your Scouts brought home. I have attached it here for your reference as well. It’s a great learning experience for your Scout to pack their gear so please do your best to let them use their packing list to pack their gear. – Also, if your son enjoys fishing, this would be a great one to bring fishing gear as there are numerous available locations and there will be some collective activities around fishing. It’s not required but would be a good opportunity for them if they have equipment.
Thank you for encouraging and supporting your Scout to attend.
Warm Regards,
Nathan Crouch
