Troop 45 at NYLT 2025

Seven Scouts and three adult Leaders from Troop 45 participated in a NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) seminar held at Camp Seminole over the weekend. NYLT is a premier BSA learning opportunity for youth to gain knowledge, skills, and confidence in leadership techniques. It was truly inspirational to see around 40 youth and 10 adults brave the heat, ticks, and chiggers of our mid-summer Mississippi to put on and to participate in this program. Offering NYLT is a strong reminder of Scouting’s deep commitment to youth—to their personal potential and to their success to become mature citizens.

Pictured above is Troop 45’s contingent to NYLT. Despite the hot weather, spirits ran high…with a little help in the air-conditioned camp dining hall.

Pictured above is the NYLT 2025 class. In addition to Troop 45’s 7 Scouts, 8 more Oxford area Scouts took part. Participants must be 13 years old, have achieved 1st Class rank, and be recommended by their Scout Master.

Fast Facts 2025 start

Troop 45 has cranked back up for the 2025-26 academic year and the Scouts are ready to get back at it. The fall semester has been planned and the calendar cemented. Look for updates on the exciting ways Scouting is making a difference in these young men’s lives. Troop 45 remains very grateful for the support from FPC and to call this church our home.
[image: image.png] Here, the Scouts gather to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and to get announcements from their Scoutmaster.
[image: image.png] Here, the Scouts lead their own discussion of the essentials of back packing…boys teaching boys. A back country hike to Big Hill Pond State Park in TN <tnstateparks.com/parks/big-hill-pond> is planned for later this semester, where they can put these learning opportunities to practical use.
