Fwd: Water Sports Merit Badge24 RSVP Needed

Hello All,
I hope this email finds you well. Please see below Mr. Nathan’s email below regarding watersports day. I hope everyone can attend.

Troop 45 Scouts and Parents,

Could you please have your scout prepared at tonight’s meeting (8-24) to share if they plan to attend the Troop 45 Water Ski day at Sardis Lower Lake on *Saturday, August 24th*? Below are the key details:

– We will start the Water Sports badge at *~8:30 am* on Saturday, August 24th at Sardis Lower Lake and finish the day at *~5:30pm*. Details of the exact pick up and drop-off locations will be sent in a separate email. – We will have two water ski boats available that will host ~4 to 6 scouts at a time with 2 leaders per boat. The remaining scouts will be on shore between sessions with 2 additional leaders. – I (Nathan Crouch) will be leading one boat with a leader and Chuck Crouch (Previous Troop 45 Scoutmaster) will be leading th 2nd boat with a 2nd leader. – The goal of the day is to teach the Scouts proper water ski/sports saftey protocols as well as key skills associated with adjusting their skis, starting up, crossing the wake, and properly falling with skis. – If they can achieve these milestones, they will earn their Water Sports badge by the end of the day. – For the Scouts to participate, they will need to have passed their Swimmers certification test OR be able to pass it on site under the approval of a Troop 45 leader. – In order for us to properly plan and support the day, we will need an RSVP for the total number at tonight’s meeting. – If you or your scout is NOT attending tonight’s meeting, please let me know if you plan to attend the Water Ski day.

Our goal is to create a fun day where Scouts will have the opportunity to learn a new skill that can help to build their confidence and excitement around participating in Water Ski related sports.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

This can be via Cash, Credit, check, or Venmo.

Thank you,

Notes from Last Nights Meeting

Hello everyone, Here are the notes from last night’s meeting 1) attached is the schedule what it does not have is popcorn show and sells, or what patrols are scheduled for car parking on specific dates 2) Meetings start at 6:45 PM and end at 8PM 3) The uniform for the first meeting of every month is Class A uniform, Tan shirt, belt, green pants or shorts 4) Board of Reviews will be the last meeting of the month every month, Scouts must have everything checked off and met with their Patrol Leader and Adult Patrol leader the week before to go to the Board of Review. 5) Popcorn all take home orders scouts receive 50% of what the troop gets for their account. This is good for 1 year. 6) Scouts are required to attend 1 show and sell (popcorn and 1 car parking) for their patrol. Those going to Northern tier will have 1 more show and sell to do. 7) If scouts need to see one of the scoutmasters it needs to be before the meetings and they will need to send an email so we can have appropriate numbers of leaders present in accordance with youth protection policies. The leaders will no longer be available after meetings. I will be at the church at 6, if a scout needs something signed by one of us, email me and I can have the appropriate leadership there before the meetings so we can get it signed.

First meeting of the semester

Hello all and welcome to another great year of scouting. Our first meeting will be Monday August 5th from 6:45-8PM at the church. Uniform for Scouts is Class A uniform. We will also have a parents meeting that night and a northern tier meeting as well. See y’all then

Troop 45 weekend activities

Just a reminder Saturday Morning Troop 45 will be hosting an anti drug awareness program at the Church. Scouts should wear their class B for this. This is a requirement for 2nd class (7c) So scouts can check that off.
Sunday we will be having our Annual planning meeting, this will be from 2-5 at the church. Scouts 1st class and above should plan on being there. We will be planning out the year from camping trips to our big trips.

Say nope to Dope Drug Awareness Program and Leadership Workshop

Hello All, I hope this email finds you well, and you are having a great Independence Day. We have a new Scout starting next week, his name is Sam. We would like to welcome him and his Grandfather to the fold.
On January 20th from 9am – 12pm the troop will be hosting a drug awareness community program put on by Oxford Police Department. This is for the scouts from no rank to 2nd class and fulfills a requirement. Hopefully they bring their K9s out and I can put on the bite suit again, the boys really enjoyed that last time we did this. We are working on a leadership workshop (what the BSA calls ILST) for the scouts that are 1st class and above later that day, and those scouts will also participate in planning the upcoming troop calendar for the year. The training will help teach the boys to instruct the younger boys in the troop, how to test, and how to better work in the Patrol Method. I will have more information on this portion as we get closer to the date.
Have a great Independence Day
